I’m happy to have helped organize and participate in today’s DO IT YOURSELF event, a series of workshops and conversations by four local artists, publishers, and community organizers centered around their methods and practices of independent publishing. For this special event at B R U N A, each participant will speak for 30 minutes, sharing their work and perspectives with attendees.
The workshop program is as follows:
ROSIE Lockie will follow her own path from painting to self-publishing by focusing on a few zine and comic projects and her approach to them in relation to fine art, zines, residency opportunities, and self-direction.
ANDREW Molitor will compare the differences between handmade book bindings and print-on-demand platforms in his own publishing practice.
BAILEY Cheney will introduce attendees to the world of risograph-printed zines, providing a brief artistic history, prepping work for print, and zine assembly.
